Este 8 y 9 de septiembre, los jefes de delegaci\u00f3n retoman conversaciones informales para preparar las pr\u00f3ximas negociaciones. Detr\u00e1s del lenguaje diplom\u00e1tico persiste una diferencia central: \u00bfel acuerdo debe concentrarse en gestionar residuos o tambi\u00e9n limitar la producci\u00f3n de pl\u00e1stico virgen?<\/p>\n<p>La evidencia favorece una mirada de ciclo de vida. El reciclaje es indispensable, pero insuficiente mientras la producci\u00f3n siga creciendo m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido que la capacidad para recuperar materiales. Adem\u00e1s, buena parte de los pl\u00e1sticos de envases se convierte en residuo durante el mismo a\u00f1o en que se fabrica.<\/p>\n<p>Para Chile, el resultado importa. Un tratado exigente podr\u00eda modificar est\u00e1ndares de dise\u00f1o, trazabilidad, responsabilidad extendida del productor, contenido reciclado y comercio internacional. Eso afectar\u00eda envases, alimentos, retail, pesca, acuicultura y gesti\u00f3n de residuos, pero tambi\u00e9n abrir\u00eda oportunidades para nuevos materiales, sistemas de re\u00faso y servicios de circularidad.<\/p>\n<p>Esperar el texto definitivo ser\u00eda una estrategia tard\u00eda. Las empresas deber\u00edan identificar desde ahora qu\u00e9 productos dependen de resinas v\u00edrgenes, cu\u00e1les contienen sustancias problem\u00e1ticas y qu\u00e9 parte de sus envases puede eliminarse, reutilizarse o redise\u00f1arse.<\/p>\n<p>El debate ya no consiste solo en qu\u00e9 hacer con el residuo.
